MILTON

Milton is a small, yet charming heritage town with a friendly ‘small town’ atmosphere. The town is surrounded by rolling green hills containing many of the local dairy farms.

Experience the relaxed, country town feel as you visit the many boutiques, antique shops, galleries, craft shops, as well as the many coffee shops and attractive eateries.
The heritage aspect of the town is evident by the numbers of buildings from a bygone era still in use. A historical tour of Milton can be pre-booked if you so wish.

There are a variety of outstanding restaurants and cafes serving delicious meals from vegetarian and gourmet take-away convenience to traditional pub fare or a la carte dining.

Just a few minutes drive from Milton are the stunning surfing beaches of  Narrawallee, Mollymook and Burrill Lake. Many of our guests with children enjoy the beach in the morning and relax by the pool in the afternoon.

The well known Milton Markets are held on the first Saturday of each month attracting folk from near and far.

PIGEON HOUSE MOUNTAIN

“….a remarkable peaked hill which resembles a square dove house with a dome on top and for that reason I named it ‘Pigeon House’ ”.

Captain James Cook – H.M.S. Endeavour – 21st April 1770

The first explorers of Pigeon House were the local Aboriginals of the Walbanja and Wandandian tribes who called it Dithol or Did-Dell. It has great prominence to these tribes as its close proximity to one of their trading routes from the coast to the tablelands.

Magnificent panoramic views ranging from Nowra in the North to Mt. Dromaderry in the south can be seen after ascending to the summit of Pigeon House mountain.
The rewarding 3-4 hour return walk to the top of Pigeon House is a very popular tourist activity with some 10,000 people enjoying the walk annually.

The cottage is the closest accommodation option to the start of the walk and for this reason it is also a very popular option for those wishing to base their holiday around the popular walk.

As the area is surrounded by 5 National and State Parks, there are plenty of other bush walks in the local area to enjoy. A comprehension guide to these walks can be found in the cottage for your convenience.

NEARBY

As the cottage is located close by to a dairy farm, you can enjoy a pre-arranged visit during milking time in the morning or afternoon. It is also only 20 minutes from a horse riding facility, where trail rides can be booked by us for your convenience. This riding school operates on weekends and school holidays.

For the golf enthusiast, two courses are available in nearby Mollymook. The 9 hole beachside course is for the casual golfer, with the championship Hilltop course available for those waiting for a challenge

Mogo Zoo is a comfortable 45 minutes south just past Batemans Bay. The zoo is home to the famous and rare white lions. Mogo itself is a quaint historical town with an extensive amount of craft and antique shops, restaurants and cafes.

Picturesque Ulladulla Harbour has a large number of cafes and shops to explore. Many half and full day trips can be organised on the local boats for fishing as well as whale or dolphin watching. Fishing is also available at any of the local beaches, lakes and inlets.
